Hello, I'm Drinela Armstrong.
Welcome to my virtual space! I’m Drinela, a dedicated special education advocate with a Master’s in Special Education from Sistema Universitario Ana G. Mendez – Universidad Metropolitana and a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education with a Minor in Learning Disabilities. With over 20 years of experience, I’ve taught students from Kindergarten to Vocational High School and spent four years as a Transition Program Coordinator for a non-profit, helping students achieve independence. I teach a wide variety of in person and virtual classes on topics including: Who am I? (Self Assessment) Hobbies, Strengths, and Career Paths Is College Right for Me? Managing Life in College College communication Advocating for My Needs And more... Outside of work, I enjoy biking, kayaking, and spending time with my family at the beach or in parks. I am passionate about reading and researching resources to benefit the special needs community, particularly in raising awareness about the importance of transition and fostering independence. A decade ago, I became a mother to fraternal twins, one of whom is on the autism spectrum. This personal experience has strengthened my commitment to supporting others facing similar challenges. I look forward to sharing insights, experiences, and resources as we work towards an inclusive and supportive community for individuals with special needs. Let’s embark on this journey together! P.S. Yo hablo español! Being bilingual in English and Spanish allows me to connect with a diverse range of individuals.
